Ireland and beyond. Our dedication to precision, to craft and our insistence
on using only the very best materials and techniques has allowed us to build

From the workshop floor to the final installation we pride ourselves in taking
the time to make sure every aspect of our work receives the care and attention
which it deserves.

Techniques and Materials
Blockboard
Blockboard is constructed from parallel softwood strips faced with a hardwood
veneer on either side.
As it is constructed from solid elements of timber, blockboard has superior
structural properties to MDF. Being less dense than MDF it allows for lighter,
more manageable doors and drawers.
Additionally, the blockboard surface onto which veneer is applied has greater
light reflective characteristics than MDF. This brighter under-surface results
in an enhanced and more attractive veneered surface.
2K Varnish
Tischler employs a 2-component varnishing system. The benefits are a harder
more resilient finish and the elimination of residual solvent vapours for fitted
furniture. – (Take any image for this)
Veneered over solid
Equally important to furniture finish is its durability. A veneer sheet is generally
0.7mm thick and when applied to an exposed edge very often becomes damaged and
peels off. To avoid this Tischler adheres solid edges of 4mm-8mm thickness to
all its veneered products. This dramatically improves the lifetime and ultimately
cost-effectiveness of the furniture. – (See solid edging images)
Auto CAD drawings
In its fit out services Tischler utilises the latest technology to create detailed
workshop drawings, and where required 3-D renderings. This ensures accurate
fit-out to client specification and high quality presentation material for designers
to use when consulting with clients.
Hardware
Tischler´s flexibility and expertise enables the inclusion of hidden 3-D
adjustable hinges, soft-close full extension track, and other non-standard components.
This permits a range of technology led solutions to achieve the latest features
in contemporary interior design.
Timber and veneers
Tischler operates an impressive veneer and solid wood catalogue all of which
are obtained from sustainable sources. The scope and quality of these products
enable designers to conceive interiors that exhibit remarkable flair and creativity.

The Tischler
Approach:
3 Steps to a successful collaboration
Step 1: Precision
Step 2: Manufacture
Step 3: Installation
The process begins with the initial contact from the client – usually
an individual or a designer. Having gone through a preliminary site visit we
will prepare detailed plans, schedules and CAD drawings where necessary. At
this point a cost structure will also be put in place.
We believe that even with the most up-to-date equipment at our disposal, the
traditional tenets of good planning and open dialogue play a vital role in our
work. A good understanding and a clear delivery schedule are essentials that
we nail down before proceeding to step 2.
Where possible, manufacturing will be done in our workshop. This means that
the minimum fuss is caused when the furniture is to be put in place. It allows
us to use machinery and techniques such as a veneer press, edge bonder and spray
Änish to create the perfect Änish for the work in hand. We specialize in veneering,
including exotic hardwoods, spray Änishing in-house, and solid edging to deliver
products that have outstanding look and durability.
On site our approach is to prepare well, and to adapt to any construction or
design issues that should raise their heads during the Änal stage of the process.
With up to 7 master craftsmen on site we endeavour to create as little disruption
as possible. Speed and accuracy in installation are our priorities. Where necessary
we will liaise with other crafts people or construction workers on site to achieve
the best possible Änish in the shortest time.

walnut desk
Free-standing desk that features an illuminated mirror lid. The challenge was
to conceal the wiring throughout so that the unit retained the clear lines inherent
in the design. To this end Tischler incorporated a specialised pivot hinge with
internal wire-tracking and a walnut-covered groove in the table leg through
which the wiring travels into the Åoor. The result is an illuminated furniture
item with no visible power source.
wardrobe units
The wardrobe units are constructed in maple, zebrano and full mirror-cladding.
They have no visible handles and incorporate mitred joints and edges so that
they have a solid, cubic form. Behind the vertical lines a mitred edge acts
as a pull handle for access. Concealed behind a screen on the top of the units
are lighting Äxtures which are controlled at the room entrance. These Äxtures,
shining upwards, are the main source of lighting for the room. Lights are also
incorporated within. Again, there is no visible power source for this unit as
concealed wiring travels through the unit into the Åoor.
study
The study continues the theme of clean lines. To fulÄl this theme metal shelving
struts were Ätted into the wall prior to plastering to accommodate Åoating shelves
manufactured by Tischler of up to 4 metres in length and 350mm deep.
kitchen
Appliance dimensions were determined ahead of manufacture, this enabled Tischler
to manufacture and Ät kitchen units whose lines follow those of the appliances.
Again, there are no visible handles as mitred edges on the units provide access.
Overall through the provision of technical solutions matched with a high degree
craftsmanship partnered a design brief to result in a contemporary, high grade
and durable Änish.

Strict execution of detailing and the employment of the Änest materials were
crucial in the fulÄlment of this design. In this room solid Oak, oiled herringbone
Åooring of 80mm width with bevelled edges is bordered by 140mm wide oak planks.
Concealed hinges enable the large double doors to open 180 degrees, Åush to
the walls. The doors of are on one side Oak and Vavona and on the other oak,
Knotty Oak and Vavona. The designer again took advantage of the veneering capabilities
of Tischler to bring about this impressive panelled interior comprised of Kevasingo
and Bubinga.
Altogether, the creativity and Åair of the designer was partnered by the capabilities
of Tischler to create this interior.

Tischler’s superior execution was brought to bear in achieving the requisite
Änish and functionality for the built-in and freestanding units of this commission.
Featured is the doorway into the kitchen area. In this position the door is
mounted Åush against the bookcase it covers. Pivoting on its hinge it rotates
180 degrees to rest Åush against the door frame and cover the doorway to reveal
the contents of the bookcase.
The Åoating unit exempliÄes Tischler’s attention to detail in selecting
the highest quality veneers, matching other sheets originating from the same
log of timber so that the individual and unique characteristics of the timber
are continued throughout the piece.
The refrigerator and freezer appliance are contained within the unit beneath
the clock. That the appliances are mounted within the unit clear of the Åoor
is an additional reÄnement in detailing.
The panelling featured shows again the attention to detail and capability of
manufacturing off-site exhibited by Tischler.
Overall the commission is a prime illustration of what can be achieved in the
partnership of leading Irish design and Tischler’s capabilities.

doors & panelling
Key elements of the penthouse structure, the doors and walls had to incorporate
features that would provide Äre resistance, while also retaining the themes
of light and texture found throughout the suite.
The double doors featured are T-60 smoke and Äre resistant and contain translucent,
Äre resistant, satinised glass – without metal reinforcement.
The doors incorporate Basys™ concealed hinges that permit 180¡ opening
to the walls. An electro-magnetic hinge triggers door closing on the activation
of the Äre alarm or cutting of power supply.
panelling in louro faia
As an element of the Äre rated wall the panelling was constructed from Louro
Faia veneered over Äre-resistant chip-board. The panelling also has solid lipping
to all exposed edges
bar
Bar constructed from Louro Faia veneered over plywood. The units incorporate
an integrated wine cooler and beer taps. The column houses beer lines that return
to the kitchen in the Åoor above where the kegs are kept. A ceiling feature
mirroring the shape of the bar counter is also Ätted and conceals the mechanism
of the beer lines.

The panelled ceiling feature, in Louro Faia, conceals a video projector that
emerges from the ceiling under remote control.
Overall the project fulÄlled a design speciÄcation with the Änish and technical
details required for a suite in a luxury hotel.

the wardrobes and storage units consist of specialised panels with advanced
